- Improved Upland Cottons
- IMPROVED UPLAND COTTONSThese are " improved " varieties of ordinary Upland cotton obtained by the selection of choice individual plants in the fields. They have a length of 11/4-in. to 13/4-in., and are more lustrous than Uplands, but less lustrous than Egyptian. There are a large number of these cottons, among which are the following : - Aliens' long staple. Bates' big boll black rattler, Bohemian, Commander, Cooks' long staple, Culpepper, Excelsior, Moon, Peterkin, Richmond, Russels' big boll, Shines early prolific, and Sunflower.
